  • Description

Throwable foam cushions are functional and comfortable PE foam cushions that have strong, durable outer shells that withstand abrasions. They have convenient webbing grab straps for aid in throwing during rescue and double as convenient carry handles. These throwable devices are rated as a Type IV PFD.

USCG has changed their labeling from USCG approved Type Codes (Type I through Type V) to USCG/Transport Canada Approved Performance Levels. These new labels are currently being phased in and your new life jacket may have the new or old labels during this period. The new label does not make the old labels obsolete.

The U.S. Coast Guard removed the "Performance Type" codes (Type I, II, III, IV, V) which corresponded to a certain designated use, and replaced with a system using "Performance Levels". The new labels also include a "turn/no turn" icon and updated activity warning icons.

These new labels are designed to be easier to read with clearly identifiable icons and less wording. They also provide label harmonization to make them more universally understood and accepted.

During this transition time, you will see both old and new labels available. Life jackets with the new labels will come with a helpful guide to understand the new icons. Note: Old labels are still valid as long as the device is serviceable.
