Some boats are more than fiberglass and horsepower—they’re family. That’s why we launched our Proud Owner Moments Instagram contest: to celebrate the stories behind the vessels, the memories they carry, and the people who bring them back to life.
This year, two entries rose to the top—and here’s the twist: both winners were father-son duos restoring boats from 1994. Must’ve been a good year for hulls and bonding, because these stories hit all the right notes: legacy, craftsmanship, and a whole lot of heart.
After reviewing submissions, these two restorations stood out for their grit, teamwork, and commitment to keeping boating traditions alive.
First Place: Dustin Harris — 1994 Contender Revival
Dustin Harris worked to bring his father’s 1994 Contender back from the brink. What started as a hand-me-down quickly became a full-blown rescue mission, and the results are nothing short of inspiring.

Boat Specialists delivered a comprehensive transformation for this vessel, starting with a full twin Yamaha repower to bring modern performance and reliability to the helm. The team executed custom dash modifications to accommodate new instrumentation, installed a new battery and electrical system, and restored trim tab operations for smoother handling. Comfort upgrades included a hot water heater, while the mechanical side saw a complete overhaul of steering, rigging, and propulsion systems. To top it off, the boat was outfitted with new Garmin electronics and underwent a full restoration and revitalization, turning a weathered hull into a head-turning, seaworthy showpiece.
This wasn’t just a service—it was a collaboration. Dustin's dedication paired with our team’s expertise, turned an aging vessel into a proud family heirloom, ready for new memories on the water.
Second Place: Sam Stein — 1994 Pursuit Restoration
Coming in a close second was Sam Stein, who took on the restoration of his father’s 1994 Pursuit with the same spirit of legacy and love. This boat had seen its share of wear, but Sam was determined to keep it alive—and we were honored to help.

The team then performed a complete refurbishment and revitalization, addressing structural wear and cosmetic fatigue. One of the most critical steps was identifying and repairing water intrusion, ensuring long-term integrity and safety. This wasn’t just a tune-up—it was a full-on Boat Rescue, preserving the spirit of the vessel and honoring its legacy as it’s passed down to the next generation.
Sam’s entry reminded us that every boat has a soul—and sometimes, all it takes is the right crew to bring it back to life.
