The Tohatsu MFS40AJETETL is a 40hp four-stroke jet outboard with tiller or remote steering (rigging sold separately), electric start, power trim and tilt, and a 20" long shaft, weighing 237 lbs. Built for shallow rivers and other water too shallow for a propeller, such as on jet jon boats and river boats. As an authorized Tohatsu dealer, Boat Specialists sells it new with the full Tohatsu 5-year warranty, and our factory-qualified technicians test-run every new motor before delivery.
The 40hp jet pairs the powerhead of Tohatsu's 60hp EFI four-stroke with a jet lower unit, so you can reach shallow hunting and fishing spots that a propeller-driven outboard can't. It's a rugged, reliable motor built to last.

$335 Dealer Engine Prep - Our factory-qualified technicians perform a full test run of your new outboard by unpacking it and connecting it to the rigging, fuel, battery, and a diagnostic computer. We run the motor up to operating temperature and test every function to make sure your new motor is working just as it should. The manufacturer's required inspection checklist is completed and submitted to the manufacturer to validate the warranty.

Do I need a short or long shaft?
